The big novelty of this European Championships is the mixed team final, which will be held on May 28. The best 16 teams will compete here, each consisting of one male and one female gymnast from the same nation. The men compete on floor, parallel bars and high bar, while the women compete on vault, beam and floor. The combined scores of both athletes determine the winning team - a premiere that demands team spirit and versatility.
Qualification for the mixed teamfinal takes place directly from the men's and women's qualifying competitions. The best gymnasts qualify for their respective disciplines (MAG: floor, parallel bars, high bar; WAG: vault, balance beam, floor) and then form their mixed team together. Only the 16 best mixed teams from this qualification will compete for the title of “European Artistic Gymnastics Mixed Team Champions” in the final on May 28.
In the qualifying competitions on May 26 and 27, which form the basis for the team decision, the men's and women's national teams will compete in a team competition. Each team consists of three to five gymnasts, of which a maximum of four athletes can compete on one apparatus. The best three scores on each apparatus are added together for the total team score, which determines the winner of the team competition.
The all-around final on May 29 is another highlight of the European Championships. The best 24 gymnasts from the qualifications qualify here. Each federation may enter a maximum of two athletes in the all-around final. In this competition, the best gymnasts show their versatility by competing on all apparatus.
The apparatus finals will take place on May 30 and 31, in which the best eight athletes per apparatus from the qualification will compete against each other. A maximum of two gymnasts per nation can qualify for an apparatus final. The competitions will take place as follows:
May 30 - apparatus finals day 1: men - floor, pommel horse, rings / women - vault, uneven bars
May 31 - apparatus finals day 2: men - vault, parallel bars, high bar / women - balance beam, floor
