Arrival and Transportation
Leipzig is easily accessible when travelling by car. You can reach Leipzig from Berlin and Magdeburg via freeway A14 (exit Leipzig-Mitte), from Dresden via freeway A14 (exit Leipzig-Ost) and from the direction of Munich and Erfurt via freeway A38 (exit Leipzig-Südwest). The national high-ways B2 and B6 lead directly to the city center of Leipzig.
Environmental zone Leipzig
Leipzig’s city center is part of the Umweltzone (environmental zone). Only vehicles with a green emissions sticker can be driven in the center. For more information and to see if you are allowed to drive your car within the city limits please check here.
Car park/Park + Ride (P+R)
Leipzig offers a lot of parking facilities in the city center. Unfortunately, they charge a fee for parking and can be very busy during the International German Gymnastics Festival. We advise you to use the Park+Ride areas and take advantage of more economically friendly urban transportation. Leipzig‘s modern long-distance bus terminal is located directly on the east side of Leipzig Central Station. From here you can easily reach the city center on foot or change to public transportation.
Deutsche Bahn operates high-speed trains from Berlin, Dresden, Erfurt, Hamburg, Hanover, Frankfurt am Main, Munich and Nuremberg straight into Leipzig Central Station.
Use the Deutsche Bahn website to discover Europe‘s biggest railway station. Not to mention the stunning integrated shopping center.
Leipzig/Halle Airport is located about 18 km outside of Leipzig directly at the highway junction Schkeuditzer Kreuz (A9, A14). From there it is a 15-minute train ride into the city center. The train runs every 30 minutes.
