Welcome to Leipzig, where the International German Gymnastics Festival with exciting competitions in 23 sports will take place from 28 May to 1 June 2025. With around 80,000 national and international participants, 750,000 visitors and 4,000 volunteers expected, it is the world's largest competitive and popular sports event. The European Gymnastics Championships will take place at the same time from May 26 to 31, 2025, where 146 gymnasts from 38 nations will be competing. Sustainability is at the heart of this challenging event concept. Everyone should download the digital Programme Guide which lists all the competitions, join-in-activities, workshops and performances in one document.
Leipzig will host the gymnastics festival for the 13th time – the first time in 1863 and last in 2022 – making it the city that has hosted the most gymnastics festivals to date. The various events of the gymnastics festival will take place at 40 locations throughout the city, with the Leipzig Trade Fair Centre being the main venue. Highlights will be the World Team Championships in Rhönrad Gymnastics and a total of ten German championships will be held, including trampolining, acrobatics and rhythmic gymnastics.
There will also be impressive shows with gala performances and show competitions. A special highlight is the Stadium Gala, which will be held on 31 May 2025 in the Red Bull Arena Leipzig under the motto ‘Leipzig connects!’. Around 40,000 spectators can look forward to a two-hour show with various music acts and international gymnastics groups from Japan, Finland and Denmark.
Participation is encouraged: the Turnfest Academy is planned with over 400 practical and theoretical training courses as well as the opportunity to try out and experience new sports. As a city with a rich sporting tradition, Leipzig is delighted to be this year's home of the 2025 International German Gymnastics Festival. Leipzig not only has its own sports route and is a dynamic water sports center, but also delights its guests with its rich musical offerings, lively history, art exhibitions and diverse subcultures.
